Whilst they are presented in the same shade of beige as the rest of the upper disc, they are recessed, again playing with perspective with pleasing results.Ī 12-hour chrono counter is located at noon. Three subdials are presented on the dial. I have found the numerals highly legible and user-friendly. However, it does not eschew function in the pursuit of style. This design detail bestows a wondrous three dimensional quality. The remaining hours are marked with simple lozenge shaped apertures affording a view of the carbon fibre disc beneath. Roman numerals, presented in modern font are presented at 4 o’clock, 8 o’clock and noon. A beige disc sits uppermost, with the hour markings being open-worked to reveal a carbon fibre layer beneath. Indeed, this watch has several nautical references to justify the locale of our photoshoot. My son and ESCAPEMENT photographer, Euan Davies, was keen to capture images of the watch in a suitable environment. With a lung full of bracing air invigorating my lungs, a photo opportunity beckoned. I can now speak with some authority about life with this uber-masculine timepiece. A nod to antique diving equipment worn by the earliest nautical divers is evident and empathized by the natural oxidation of the material of the 46mm case, which creates a naturally aged look, often a unique one, extremely desirable by its wearer.
